About The Role

JOB PURPOSE

The Head of Partnership Management is responsible for managing and maximising the value of the Club’s partnerships, ensuring mutually beneficial relationships with the Club’s sponsors and commercial partners. 

The postholder oversees all aspects of partnership management, from contract negotiation and activation to relationship building and performance analysis. As a senior leader, the Head of Partnership Management is instrumental in developing and implementing strategies to grow the Club’s commercial revenues, enhancing partner satisfaction and driving innovative partnership initiatives.

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partnership Strategy: Develop and implement comprehensive partnership strategies to maximise the value of the Club’s commercial partnerships.
  • Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with existing partners, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and engagement.
  • Contract Negotiation: Lead negotiations with new and existing partners to secure favourable terms and conditions.
  • Activation and Delivery: Oversee the activation and delivery of partnership agreements, ensuring all commitments are met and exceeded.
  • Innovation: Drive innovative partnership initiatives that enhance the Club’s brand and deliver value to partners.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct market research and analysis to identify new partnership opportunities and industry trends.
  • Financial Management: Develop and manage budgets for partnership activities, ensuring cost control and profitability.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and develop the partnership management team, fostering a culture of excellence, innovation, and collaboration.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including sponsors, partners, and suppliers.
  • Compliance: Ensure all partnership activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and organisational policies.
  • Performance Analysis: Monitor and analyse the performance of partnership initiatives, providing regular reports and insights to senior management.

  • Take responsibility and care for the health and safety of yourself and other employees and members of the public who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work.
  • Comply with all aspects of the Club’s Health & Safety Policy and arrangements to enable the company to perform its civil and statutory obligations in relation to Health & Safety.
About The Candidate

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • A Degree in a relevant area (Business, Marketing, Sports Management etc.) or a number of years’ experience normally associated with this level of qualification
  • Demonstrable experience (7-10 years) in partnership management, sponsorship or commercial strategy - ideally within sports or entertainment industry.
  • Experience working in international markets and an understanding of global sport business dynamics would be an advantage.
  • The ability to speak other language(s) would be an advantage.

  • Demonstrated understanding of partnership management principles and practices, with the ability to apply them in a sports context.
  • Ability to think strategically and develop long-term plans to enhance the club’s partnership activities.
  • Proven leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Strong negotiation skills, with a track record of securing favourable terms and conditions.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, with a track record of managing and nurturing key partnerships.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make strategic recommendations.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong financial management skills, with the ability to develop and manage budgets effectively.
  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and work effectively under pressure.
A keen interest in football and an understanding of the football industry.
