Head of Academy recruitment will predominately focus on players within the 9-14 age range covering
games, fixtures and tournaments and school’s football.
• Build up knowledge of the best players in own local area and present findings to the Academy Manager /
Lead phases/ Head of Coaching.
• Build relationships with all professional clubs (cat 1 – cat 2) within our catchment area to ensure that
we have a chance at looking at the players that are being released not taken etc.
• Attend fixtures on a daily/weekly basis proactively seek out fixtures to attend watching both grassroots
and academy matches - Organise volunteer scouts and as well as completing detailed reports on
players to support the identification process for NTFC provide updates on scouting outcomes to the
Academy Managers.
• Identifying and recruitment of players across the player performance pathway of a suitable level to
potentially join NTFC Academy system.
• Undertake Scouting Assignments as agreed with the Academy Manager.
• Carry out all trialist player administration paperwork and checks before bringing in the trialists.
• Meet and great the new cohort of trialists.
• Hold monthly recruitment meetings.
• Build contacts with Academy staff to ensure you are notified of the players (trialists and signed
boys) who are doing well and who are struggling.
• Maintain a database of player details at all required levels.
• Organise trial days also Identify ‘target’ teams for games and add recruitment events (festivals,
showcases) and tournaments as agreed with the Academy Managers .
• Look at NTFC apprentices who are out on loan (at the Academy Managers discretion) and write out
report on them – also identify any young players who may have slipped through the net – to allow
them to be put onto NTFC radar.
