About The Role

Port Vale FC Academy - Goalkeeping Coach
 
Reporting To: Head of Coaching/Lead GK Coach
Term: Part-time, casual contract
Location: Port Vale Football Club and other venues that apply to meet the needs of the role
Salary: DOE and qualifications 
Hours: Three evenings per week; Sunday matchdays
The Role: Work with the GK's in the Foundation and YDP age groups to develop the players in the academy across the Four Corner Development Model

About The Candidate

Qualifications:

  • UEFA B License
  • UEFA B GK Licence
  • FA Youth Award
  • In-date FA Level 2 First Aid/EFAiF
  • In-date FA Safeguarding
  • In-date Enhanced DBS

 Experience:

  • Strong experience of coaching goalkeepers in an academy environment.
  • Experience of helping players transition from the Foundation Phase to the Youth Development Phase, or from the Youth Development Phase to the Professional Development Phase in an academy environment.
  • Previous success of producing players that are now playing in the professional game.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • In conjunction with the Head of Coaching (HOC) and Lead Goalkeeping Coach/ Phase Coaches, oversee and deliver the technical programme for academy players in the U9-U16 age groups.
  • Monitor the development of the players, recording individual player data on the FIP.
  • Liaise with the Head of Coaching and Lead Goalkeeping Coach to create session plans appropriate to individual learning.
  • Devise individual learning objectives and action plans for each goalkeeper within the program.
  • In conjunction with the HOC, Lead Goalkeeping Coach and Head of Education, formulate and deliver a review process every 6 weeks for each Academy player and provide written assessment player feedback bi-annually to the parents.
  • Liaise closely with the Head of Recruitment/AMT on identifying and monitoring trialist goalkeepers across all age groups.
  • To coach and deliver from the Academy Performance Plan.
  • Maintain a weekly training report for the Head of Academy/HOC.
  • Deliver group and individual weekly performance objectives.
  • Assist in the evaluation of the weekly performance objectives.
  • Assist in the monitoring of performance, reporting and evaluating the goalkeepers.
  • Assist in the monitoring and supervision of physical development.
  • Take part in all relevant meetings including in service training, parent meetings/reviews at the request of the manager.
  • Show a continuous commitment to personal development through CPD and relevant courses.
  • Be aware of the clubs Coaches Code of Conduct, Child Protection policy, Health & Safety policy and Emergency procedures.
  • Take responsibility for the safety of those participating or under your guidance.
  • Any other duties as deemed by the Head of Academy Football /Lead Goalkeeping Coach/ First Team GK Coach.

It is necessary to undertake any training relevant to the post, including ongoing CPD training, be trustworthy and adhere to codes of conduct, ethics and confidentiality.

The position is subject to an Enhanced DBS check, appropriate references and a six-month probationary period.

It is essential to be aware of the clubs Coaches Code of Conduct, Child Protection policy, Health & Safety policy and Emergency procedures and take responsibility for safety of those participating or under your guidance.

Must be available for evening training sessions and weekend match days. The nature of the role means that there are significant variations in the level of activity; this requires the job holder to work whatever hours are needed to meet the requirements of the role.
