About The Role
Doncaster Rovers Academy have an exciting opportunity as Lead Foundation Phase Coach. Reporting to the Head of Player Development Coaching, This position is vital in ensuring the development of our youngest players and providing a pathway from pre academy into the youth development phase. The successful candidate is expected to hold a valid UEFA B licence, an Advanced Youth Award (or willingness to complete), alongside an up to date FA safeguarding and FA emergency first aid qualification. Below provides a summary of the role responsibilities:
Respond to the requirements of the phase lead on the development of the foundation phase
Support the ALT, Head of Academy and
liaising with the Head of player development and Head of Coach Development to manage, supervise and develop of the academy coaching staff, taking whatever steps are necessary to maintain the highest professional standards at all times.
Provide regular updates on all Academy activity and player progress to the
Head of player development regarding players and progress in the phase
Assist with structuring Academy meetings with all part time coaches
Lead of player progression meetings for foundation age groups with the MDT
Manage the Academy’s foundation phase squads, where appropriate delivering coaching sessions, managing match day logistics and completing all the relevant work on Kitman Labs.
Ensure all staff in foundation phase up to date with Kitman Labs & other relevant admin.
Participate and take part in CPD events for full and part time coaches
Work closely with the Pre Academy Staff and Lead Youth Development Phase Coach to ensure smooth transition from pre academy through to the YDP.
Work closely with all MDT staff to ensure MDT programme is delivered effectively.
Work closely with Head of Academy Recruitment and Emerging talent lead in regards to the identification of players.
Ensure all administration work is complete accurately with our football administrator and within the time scales set
Build new relationships / partnerships that will enhance the Academy through Club 1879
Ensure all 6 & 12 week reviews are completed for the allocated age groups.
Take an active part in ensuring that all aspects of player’s lives are in accordance to club Education & Welfare policies.
Attend all Academy Team Meetings required.
Maintain UEFA Qualifications, Safeguarding and Emergency Aid Qualification.
Contribute to the talent identification strategy for pre academy and foundation phase players
Organise additional fixtures where appropriate for the development of the players to stretch our players
Support the academy top talent programme
Ensure the multi disciplinary workshops and programme operates smoothly within the phase
Communicate with the Community Department regarding schools initiatives, holiday clubs, festivals and tournament,
Ensure safeguarding standards are met and maintained across the phase
Keep own knowledge and skills up-to-date
Encourage good practice by promoting and championing the safeguarding policy and procedures
Ensure all policies and procedures are adhered to
Promote the brand identity and increase Club Doncaster fan base through positive service delivery.
Support the whole of Club Doncaster group to promote the events and the business as a whole, including additional support at Club Doncaster events such as the Big Bang and Festival of Sport weekend.
Act at all times with utmost good faith to the Club(s) and the Company.
Devote full attention and ability to fulfilment of the duties required by the role.
To work closely with, maintain good relationships, and collaborative working practices
To work with colleagues throughout Club Doncaster to extend knowledge and skills in order to identify and develop best practice.
To undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this job.
To maintain the quality of service provision, regularly evaluating work and seeking to make improvements
Present a professional image when dealing with both internal and external contacts and partners, acting in a professional manner at all times.
To cover as and when required at other departments within the Club Doncaster Group
To undertake such other duties, training and/or hours of work as may be reasonably required and which are consistent with the general level of responsibility of this job.
