About The Role

Job Role: Academy Sports Therapist 

Hours: Casual

Walsall FC is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Sports Therapist to join our Academy!

This role is key to supporting the health and performance of our players by leading treatment and rehabilitation programmes. You will provide hands-on care during evening training sessions, pitch-side first aid at home games, and collaborate closely with medical and coaching staff to optimise player welfare.
 
Key Tasks and Responsibilities: 
  • Lead and deliver treatment and rehabilitation programmes for injured Academy players.
  • Provide pitch-side first aid cover for all home games and attend away matches where possible
  • Communicate treatment plans, rehabilitation progress, and fitness status to Academy coaches.
  • Review and adapt injury management programmes to meet individual and squad needs.
  • Liaise with the Head of Academy Physiotherapy for ongoing learning and development.
  • Attend scheduled coaching meetings to provide medical insights and support player welfare.
  • Maintain and update medical equipment for training and matchdays.

About The Candidate

Essential Requirements

 

  • BSc in Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy, or a relevant degree.
  • CSP and HCPC registration (Physiotherapists).
  • FA Level 4 Intermediate Trauma Medical Management in Football (ITMMiF) or equivalent FA-recognised pitch-side first aid qualification.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Enthusiastic, organised, and reliable with good time management skills.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • Applicants must be over 18.
 Desirable
  • Previous experience in a sporting environment.
  • Understanding of the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP).
  • Knowledge of football-specific medical software (e.g., PMA or Benchmark 54).
  • FA Safeguarding Children qualification.
