About The Role

The Purpose: 

Salford City FC requires a number of physiotherapists/sports therapists to join our Academy Medical Department, covering weekend fixtures and various evening training sessions on an ad hoc basis. Each successful applicant will be required to provide pitch-side emergency care across a variety of age groups within the Academy programme. This opportunity is perfect for Chartered Physiotherapists / Graduate Sport Therapists seeking to gain experience in football. 

 

The Role: 

  • Responsible for providing emergency first aid and treatment to Academy age group teams at training sessions / fixtures. 

  • Provide injury rehabilitation training for players in preparation for return to play.  

  • Provide treatment and preparation exercises for fit players during the season to maintain their availability and reduce their risk of future injury. 

  • Communicate injury status, rehabilitation strategies and return to training projections to the Academy Management Team and Medical Team. 

  • Support the medical provision and the management of injuries as directed by Senior Academy Physiotherapist. 

  • Promote the health and wellbeing of all players. 

  • Support where necessary pre-registration medical screenings and musculoskeletal examinations, in conjunction with the Senior Academy Physiotherapist. 

  • Maintain accurate and updated medical records of all players, including accurate recording. 

  • Ensure the Club and players are compliant with all medical and anti-doping guidelines, rules and regulations of governing bodies. 

  • Ensure communication between staff, players and parents to ensure optimal well-being and development of all players.  

  • Role model and ensure positive and professional behaviours, ensuring honesty and integrity at all times. This includes being presentable, smart and personable at all times when representing the Club.  

  • Contribute to providing a safe Academy environment, demonstrating safe working practices and follow safeguarding policies and procedures, reporting concerns when necessary. 

 

About The Candidate

The Person: 

  • Experience in providing physiotherapy or sports therapy services 

  • Able to implement knowledge in practical scenarios and adapt when necessary. 

  • Effective at delivering information to positively affect player and/or coach behaviour. 

  • Ability to take a hands-on approach to ensuring problems are resolved and objectives are achieved. 

  • Personable approach to build individual relationships and work cohesively in a team. 

 

We are looking for an exceptional team player who has a calm and flexible approach, with strong interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with children in our U9s – U16 squads. Conscientious and with a can-do approach, you will be committed to welfare of all players.  

 

You’re required to attend all designated sessions and fixtures to provide pre-match preparation, half time treatments and post games assessments/treatments where appropriateYou will fulfil your role as per emergency matchday protocols.  

 

With a professional and attentive approach, you’ll ensure players needs are met, proactively planning for every eventuality. The role will ensure that the Club adheres to its medical obligations, ensuring that our programme operates with a high degree of integrity and professionalism.  

 

You will be responsible for ensuring the highest standards of behaviour and medical practice are in place. You will also ensure that you adhere to safeguarding policies and procedures to create a positive and proactive safeguarding culture which gives players a safe and exciting experience. 

 

The role requires a high degree of flexibility to support our busy training and match schedules. You will be required to work evening training sessions during the week and fixtures which take place on SundaysThis includes travel to local away games on Sunday. Flexibility is key due to training and matches potentially changing at short notice.  

 

You will need a full, clean driving licence.
