About the Role
Birmingham City Football Club is seeking a passionate and player-focused Pre-Academy Coach (Casual) to support the delivery of our Pre-Academy and Blues Elite Programme.
This role is central to developing young players at the earliest stages of the Academy pathway, ensuring high-quality coaching aligned with the Club’s philosophy, the Academy Performance Plan, and EPPP standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage an assigned Pre-Academy age group.
- Plan, deliver, and review engaging coaching sessions and matchdays.
- Implement the Club’s coaching philosophy and weekly programme.
- Ensure equal and appropriate playing opportunities for all players.
- Complete player reviews each mesocycle and contribute to succession planning.
- Monitor and record all session and match data via the Football Intelligence Platform.
- Assess and provide feedback on trialists in line with Academy processes.
- Maintain high standards for all training and matchday resources.
- Support the day-to-day organisation and logistics of the programme.
- Ensure full compliance with Premier League & EFL EPPP regulations.
- Actively contribute to coach development and complete required CPD frameworks (CCF & DAP).
- Safeguard player wellbeing at all times, escalating concerns appropriately.
- Adhere to all Club policies including safeguarding, equality, and health & safety.
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- UEFA C Licence
- FA Youth Award
- Experience delivering high-quality coaching to young players
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills
- Experience in player development within a football environment
- Player-centred coaching approach
- Commitment to safeguarding and player wellbeing
Desirable
- UEFA B Licence
- Experience in a Category One Academy
- Background across Foundation and Youth Development phases
- Experience planning games programmes/tournaments
- Coaching or teaching qualification (e.g. degree, QTS)
- FA Safeguarding certification
- Full UK driving licence
