About The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to work within Walsall Football Club’s Category 3 Academy as the Head of Academy Physiotherapy. The main purpose of the role is to oversee the Academy Medical provision across all age groups u9 to u18. Ensuring that all requirements are met and players are supported accordingly, ensuring that we are fit for purpose.

THE ROLE:

  • Experience and extensive knowledge from working within sport and have a keen interest in evidence based, preparation, performance and recovery strategies involving the adolescent footballer. 
  • A clear understanding of the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP) ideally at Category 3 or above is required, coupled with the prevention and the treatment and management of injuries within all academy age groups.
  • Ensure the Academy medical department is audit compliant.
  • Develop a structured and mentored CPD pathway for all Academy medical staff.
  • Work with local universities to access placement opportunities.
  • Liaise with First Team medical staff and club doctor where required.
  • Ensure all Cardiac Screening is booked and completed as required to meet EPPP rules.
  • Ensure all Academy activities are suitably covered with relevant medical staff.
  • Recruit new medical staff to ensure we are suitably covered.
  • Work closely with Lead Phase Staff and feedback on player injury / rehab progress.
  • Liaise with parents and players to deliver rehab support.
  • Complete all work / tasks to deadline in a timely manner.
  • All other duties that may be reasonably required to support the effective delivery of the Academy programme.
  • To set high standards of professionalism and demonstrate a high standard of conduct across ALL Academy and wider club activity.
  • Be aware of and follow the procedures for recording accidents.
  • Demonstrate the Academy & wider club values and behaviours at all times.
  • Any other duties as may be required by the Club from time to time.

About The Candidate

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

Essential
  • BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy
  • HCPC Members of Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
  • FA level 4 Intermediate Trauma Medical Management in Football (ITMMiF)
  • Current FA Safeguarding Children course
  • Must satisfactorily pass an FA DBS Enhanced check
Desirable
  • FA level 5 Intermediate Trauma Medical Management in Football (ATMMiF)
