Role Summary:

 

Millwall Community Trust is seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Minibus Driver to join our Post-16 Academy programme. This role is perfect for individuals who enjoy supporting young people in a professional football environment and want to play a vital role in helping players reach their full potential.

We are currently looking for drivers to safely transport male and female academy players to away fixtures across the South of England.

This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who want to gain experience within a professional football setting, with access to CPD sessions and the chance to engage with academy activities to support personal and professional development.

As a Post-16 Academy Minibus Driver, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and timely transport of players to matches and events.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely transport players to away fixtures across the South of England, ensuring punctual arrival and departure.
  • Maintain high standards of professionalism, representing Millwall Community Trust positively at all times.
  • Ensure all vehicles are roadworthy, clean, and properly maintained before and after trips.
  • Follow all safeguarding, welfare, and health & safety policies during transport.
  • Assist with planning travel routes and schedules in coordination with academy staff.
  • Support players during journeys, ensuring a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment.
  • Communicate effectively with coaches, academy staff, and parents regarding transport arrangements.
  • Keep accurate records of trips, including mileage, passenger numbers, and any incidents.
  • Report any vehicle issues or concerns promptly to the relevant staff
  • Contribute to the smooth running of the Post-16 Academy by assisting with logistical needs as required.
 
 
Essential Requirements:
  • Full UK driving license with entitlement to drive a minibus (D1 category or relevant certification).
  • Proven experience driving passengers safely, ideally in a professional or educational setting.
  • Knowledge of vehicle safety checks and basic maintenance procedures.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills to ensure punctual transport.
  • Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with coaches, staff, and parents.
  • Ability to work independently and take responsibility for the safety and well-being of passengers.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, health, and safety standards at all times.
  • Professional and positive attitude, representing Millwall Community Trust on all journeys.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required for away fixtures.
  • Reliability and consistency in attendance and performance.

 

Desired Requirements:

  • Previous experience driving in a football, sports, or youth academy environment.
  • Familiarity with the South of England road network and common travel routes.
  • First aid qualification or basic knowledge of emergency procedures.
  • Experience working with young people in an educational or coaching context.
  • Additional driving qualifications or endorsements (e.g., passenger transport or minibus specific training).
  • Understanding of safeguarding policies relating to young people.

 

Additional Information:

  • This is a part-time, zero-hours contract role, with sessions running during the day and some evening(s)
