About The Role

Rotherham United is seeking a hardworking and motivated Grounds Person to join our professional football club at our Roundwood Training Complex. The successful application will support the maintenance of are training pitches. This is a hands-on role responsible for maintaining and preparing high-quality playing surfaces and surrounding areas to elite professional standards. You will play a key role in ensuring the pitch is training-ready and safe for players at all times.

About The Candidate

Key Responsibilities

- Assist in the day-to-day maintenance of the stadium pitch and training ground surfaces

- Prepare pitches for matches and training sessions, including marking, mowing, and setting up goals/equipment

- Undertake regular turf care including aeration, seeding, fertilising, and irrigation

- Operate and maintain groundskeeping machinery safely and effectively

- Support pitch renovation projects during off-season and scheduled maintenance periods

- Ensure compliance with health & safety standards at all times

- Assist with stadium and training ground presentation, ensuring a professional appearance

- Work matchdays, including pre-match setup and post-match repairs

- Monitor weather conditions and assist in implementing appropriate pitch protection measures

Skills & Experience Required

- Previous experience in sports turf maintenance (football preferred)

- Knowledge of pitch care techniques and machinery operation

- A recognised qualification in sports turf (e.g. NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent) is desirable

- Strong work ethic with the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions

- Good attention to detail and pride in maintaining high standards

- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and matchdays

- Full UK driving licence (preferred)
