Overall purpose of the Job

To support and develop all players within the Emerging Talent Centre (ETC) to attain the highest levels of performance possible in a safe, secure and supportive environment.

 

3.

Duties and Responsibilities

ETC:

  • To be committed to ensuring the safeguarding and welfare of all staff and players, promoting their well-being whilst maintaining professional boundaries.
  • To drive and nurture a positive culture within the training group and be a coach who makes the Training Centre a place where players learn, have fun and develop a love for the game.
  • Plan, prepare, deliver, and evaluate coaching sessions in the ETC, following a training programme.
  • Provide input to the development and ongoing improvement / adaptation of the coaching curriculum.
  • Coach in a way that ensures players; are encouraged to ask questions and seek feedback for improvement and clarity; are encouraged to have input to footballing decisions and their own learning process; are communicated the why’ as well as ‘what’ of decisions; know and understand the purpose and ‘why’ of training sessions.
  • Contribute towards selection decisions.
  • Work with players across all age groups in the ETC when necessary.
  • Work with individual players to set appropriated development targets with a plan to work towards.
  • Provide feedback to players (using technology where appropriate).
  • Monitor and evaluate player development and provide feedback to players and parents on a regular basis.
  • Liaise with and work closely with coaches, medics and performance staff regarding player development, and prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of injuries.
  • Encourage / support the holistic development of players to support them as people and players.
  • Ensure player behaviour in the group reflects what is required in the ETC.
  • Record participation and attendance at ETC activities.

    Ensure communication to players and parents concerning the age group is consistent and aligned to ETC communications. 

  • Educate parents on the programme and how they can support their child’s football and personal development while in the ETC.
  • Store and maintain kit and equipment.
  • Seek feedback from others and reflect on personal behaviour and performance to identify areas for improvement.
  • Create and maintain a personalised Development Action Plan (DAP), taking input and feedback from a variety of sources.
  • Review personal competencies against job specification and identify areas for improvement.
  • Attend CPD events and undertake CPD activities in line with identified development themes; and
  • Be aware of current research and insight to support programme and coaching development.

     

    Community Football:

  • To be committed to ensuring the safeguarding and welfare of all staff and players, promoting their well-being whilst maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Assist with community school holiday football camps, providing a safe and enjoyable environment.
  • Follow the community footballing strategy enabling ‘football for all’.
  • Support football sessions external from Blackburn, promoting the brand of Blackburn Rovers and their charity.
  • Support on the following football sessions:
    • School Holiday Football Camps
    • Community Development Football Sessions
    • Girl’s Development Sessions (Pre-ETC)
    • Premier League Kicks
    • Wellbeing Football Provision
    • Community Football
    • Matchday Football Engagement

General

To always be approachable and represent Blackburn Rovers Community Trust in a professional manner regarding dress, presentation, personal hygiene, attitude, conduct and professionalism.

To be able to work flexible and unsociable hours where the role of the job requires including some evenings, weekends and overnight stays.

To contribute to a positive working and learning environment.

Knowledge, Experience and Qualifications

Experience of working with young athletes.

Experience of working in a football environment.

Understanding of the needs of the modern young player in terms of their physical and psychological development.

An up to date understanding of Child Protection and Safeguarding procedures.

UEFA B / FA Level 2 in Coaching Football

FA Safeguarding Children

FA Level 1 Introduction to First Aid in Football (IFAiF) or FA Emergency First Aid

UEFA B/FA Level 3 in Coaching Football

 

Experience of working with a charity and/or a professional football club community scheme.

 

Proven experience of financial management including financial control, information management, budget setting and implementation.

 

Skills

Excellent communication skills both written and verbal, placing high value on attention to detail.

Strong administration, organisational and planning skills in order to meet set deadlines.

An ability to adapt quickly, be flexible in the face of change and solution orientated.

Ability to remain calm under pressure.
